Job Description
As the Electrical & Process Control Discipline Manager, you will play an active and demanding role in managing a department of 25+ Engineers. You develop and implement the department's objectives in such a way that continuity and quality are ensured, and the discipline's anticipated expansion in people and resources is realised. You monitor technical innovations and ensure that they are incorporated into the department's working procedures and activities. Within the scope of the organisation's objectives, you develop plans and objectives for your department.
You are an authority in your field, you lead and execute development and/or new policies, you exude enthusiasm and you take on problems by taking risks. You provide guidance and leadership in such a way that employees are deployed in projects based on their talents, allowing for effective and efficient collaboration with other disciplines. You also make use of the short lines of communication with the Electrical & Process Control departments of our client’s offices in Schiedam & Antwerp.
You direct the department from a technical standpoint and ensure that work is completed in accordance with the appropriate quality standards, ensuring that technical content budgets are correctly drawn up and executed as such.
You ensure that your employees adhere to the set requirements and budgets, and that overruns and underruns are reported.
In addition, you are involved in engineering issues in which you act as 'cooperating foreman'. You are involved in making proposals and agreeing with the customer(s) on the technical aspects of the assignment, as well as the different preconditions such as planning, reporting, delivery dates, and so on. You also visit various clients on-site to independently discuss technical and project challenges.
You will work with a variety of markets in Amsterdam, including Midstream / Tank Terminals, Heavy Industries (Steel Industry), Pharmaceutical, Chemical, and (Renewable) Energy.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Lead Engineer Electrical and/or Process Control in multidisciplinary engineering projects;
- Relevant training in the Electrical or Process Control disciplines;
- Possibly several years' work experience as Discipline Manager;
- Recent engineering experience is preferred;
- You have a natural ability to coach and connect people;
- Experience with various market areas mentioned above;
- You have strong communication and analytical skills, and you are determined to see projects through to completion;
- You are a team player who prioritises collaboration with different fields and branches.
- Communication skills in English are required, and command of the Dutch language is advantageous.
